Welcome to opensourceeln.org

opensourceeln.org is the home of the Open Source Electronic Lab Notebook (OS-ELN) project, a community initiative initiated by Amphora Research Systems to develop a web-based, Open Source ELN.

The Open Source ELN will be of particular interest to Universities and Colleges needing a simple, low-cost ELN to be used by their students in classes. Based on Open Source software, the system is easily and cost effectively deployed, and can be expanded and modified as needed.

The Open Source ELN will also serve as a reference/example implementation for CENSML.org and other integration standards.

The current release of OS-ELN is works, but there are of course many opportunities for improvement; we hope that over time it will improve through the efforts of not only Amphora but also the wider community. We are following the Open Source regime of "Release early, release often".

We have some introductory material about the project; for the impatient, you can go directly to the download area.

The rest of the site is arranged as follows:

  • Project Description
More about the project, its aim, features, and what you can expect from it in the future

  • Technologies Used?
An explanation of the base technologies (Zope, the Zope CMF, and Python)

  • Mailing Lists
Two mailing lists: one for announcements related to the project, and another for general discussion

  • Download Area
How you can obtain a copy of the Open Source ELN

  • License restrictions
The license used for Open Source ELN; what you can and cannot do with the product

If you have any questions or comments about the site or the issues raised in its discussions, please e-mail info@amphora-research.com
